How often should I visit the dentist?
Most people do well with a check-up and cleaning every six months. Your dentist may suggest a different interval if you have gum disease, wear braces or get cavities often.
Do I need a root canal, or can the tooth be filled?
A filling repairs a cavity that hasn't reached the nerve. A root canal is needed when decay or infection reaches the pulp inside the tooth. An examination and X-ray tell the two apart.
What is the difference between an implant and a denture?
An implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone to hold a crown, so it stays fixed. A denture is removable. Whether implants suit you depends on your bone and gum health.
Should I choose braces or clear aligners?
It depends on your bite and how far the teeth need to move. Our orthodontist can advise after an examination. Aligners only work if you wear them for most of the day.
What should I do about severe tooth pain or a knocked-out tooth?
Call the clinic straight away. For a knocked-out adult tooth, hold it by the crown, not the root, rinse it gently and keep it moist in milk while you travel to us. There is more on the tooth pain and emergency page.
